Description of Course: |
A BTEC Diploma is a practical work-related course. You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic work situations and activities.
Benefits - The course provides the opportunity to gain an insight into the structure of the Sports Industry. It provides the opportunity to progress to a higher work-related qualification and offers the chance to obtain sports leadership qualifications.
Course Content:
The course covers a range of subjects relating to the sports industry, health and safety and fitness. You also have the opportunity to have a work-experience placement, gain leadership qualifications and have some practical activity. The course will also involve computer room based theory lessons and possible visits to sporting venues.
Modules:
It is one-year course, made up of six units:
Preparation for Sport
Health, Safety and Injury in Sport
The Sports Industry
The Body in Action
Sports Leadership Skills
Practical Sport
The students will also follow an internally set series of sessions to develop work-related skills.
Entry Guidelines:
Four GCSE subjects grades G to D or above. Other alternative courses and experience will be considered
Assessment:
The course is assessed by six internal assignments. There are no examinations.
Course Fees:
There are various visits and trips undertaken as part of the course to give value- added emphasis, for which there may be a nominal fee to pay when required. |
Possible Career Pathways: |
| There may be opportunities to take coaching awards in various sports and a First Aid Qualification during the year. These are recognised nationally and therefore will create opportunities for you going into a coaching role. There will be opportunities for you to further your experience through your work placement. The BTEC first Diploma will also give a good grounding for you to go onto BTEC NVQ level 3. |
