Description of Course: |
The course is split into two distinct parts, AS in the first year and A2 in the second year. The AS may be examined in January and at the end of the first year. The A2 is examined in the second year. As this part is more demanding than the AS you will need to pass AS Level in order to progress to A2 Level.

Unit 2
Biological Psychology (stress)
Individual Differences (abnormality)
Social Psychology (obedience and conformity)
Assessment:
There will be two one and a half hour exams, one of which may be taken in January. Each exam will consist of short answer questions with stimulus material and one 12 mark question requiring extended writing.
A2
Unit 3
A maximum choice of three from:- Biological Rhythms and Dreaming, Relationships, Eating behaviour, Intelligence and Learning, Perception, Aggression, Gender or Cognition and Development.
Unit 4
Psychopathology (a choice from Schizophrenia, Depression or Anxiety Disorders)
Psychology in Action (a choice from Media Psychology, Psychology of Addictive behaviour or Anomalistic behaviour)

Assessment:
Unit 3 will be assessed through a one and a half hour exam with essay style questions. Unit 4 will assessed through a two hour exam with 2 essay style questions and one structured question. |

| Psychology is the study of human behaviour and mental processes. Psychologists have many theories and approaches to try to explain behaviour which will be studied along with many examples of experiments and investigations that various psychologists have carried out to support their ideas.
