Description of Course: |
This course aims to provide you with an understanding of the law and the legal system in England and Wales. The course covers the following four areas:
Sources of Law how Parliament and the Courts make the law
Machinery of Justice how the courts and the legal system work
Legal Personnel who does what: solicitors, barristers, judges etc.
Criminal law and Justice crime and society, the Police, criminal offences, sentencing etc.
During the course, you may have the opportunity to visit various law courts to see the legal system in practice. |

| Law will provide an excellent preparation for anyone considering a career in Law or other legal-related fields. It is also a well-respected qualification for entry into employment post-18 or application to University. |

You should consider this course if you have:
An interest in law and the legal system
A logical mind
A high standard of literacy there is a considerable amount of reading and writing in AS Level Law, so you will need at least a grade C in English GCSE.
A high degree of self-motivation. You will be expected to complete a considerable amount of personal study in order to achieve a reasonable grade. For this reason you will need the agreement of the Head of Sixth before you can be accepted onto this course. |
