Using work-related contexts, innovative teaching and assessment methods these new awards offer a broad introduction to the vocational area of ICT. This qualification is designed to provide a progression route to higher education and further training for employment.
You will acquire the necessary skills, knowledge and understanding to create, develop and present high quality work and gain a respected GCE qualification that encompasses a real world vocational approach. Assessment is carried out by a range of practical units which are presented as learning portfolios and two externally controlled tests.
Mandatory units that must be completed by all entrants include:
Unit 1 Using ICT to communicate
Unit 2 How organisations use ICT
Unit 3 ICT solutions for individuals and society
Units 1 and 3 are assessed by coursework portfolio.
Unit 2 is assessed by examination that includes some pre-exam practical work.
The GCE in Applied ICT provides a broad introduction to the subject that you may find beneficial in your study of other A Level subjects and also prepares you for study in further or higher education.
There is no overall examination at the end of the course. The final grade A to E will be determined from the aggregate score of the three components. These grades are identical to the non-vocational A Levels. |
